Open letter to beach users and those interested in conservation
We need your help to restore coastal dunes in City Beach and Floreat Beach – we are holding an OPEN DAY at Floreat Surf Life Saving Club on Sunday 7 May 2017 between 10 and 11.30 am to explain what you can do to help conserve native dune vegetation. Cambridge Coastcare members will be on hand to demonstrate planting techniques and equipment and to explain how we intend to conduct future conservation efforts.
Broadly, we have a plan to promote ‘Adopt-a-Dune’ to the community where responsibility will be placed on volunteers to keep an eye on a small delineated section of the dunes on a routine basis to identify and report problems such as weed infestations and help prioritise their treatment or removal. We would like to see parents and teenagers volunteering to help us conserve beach areas for future generations to enjoy the magnificent diversity of flora and fauna in this part of WA.
