We are holding our second planting for 2018 next Sunday, 1 July, at 9 am at Floreat dog-beach, path 16, again – this time we are planting in the dunes for erosion control. The weather forecast is now for a dry, cool day. The areas we are planting were fenced off in 2016 and planted last year, but have suffered from weather conditions and some vandalism, with the result we need to do some infill planting to try to get spinifex established to help stabilise sand movement on the face of these dunes. We will plant the spinifex with trowels because the potti-puki planters don’t make a deep enough hole for the conditions. So we look forward to seeing you at 9 am at the northern end of the dog-beach access road, near its junction with West Coast Highway, near opposite the end of Empire Avenue, City Beach. As usual, we will go back to the Floreat Kiosk cafe for tea/coffee/fruit toast after we get the spinifex in.
